‘When Bad Warlocks Turn Good’ was a pretty mediocre Charmed hour. It felt like people spent most of it doing things that they normally wouldn’t do, but performances from the shows cast saved it.
Synopsis: Prue helps a young man, about to become a priest, escape his warlock half brothers who want to use him to help complete their brotherhood and create their own power of three.
Prue’s pairing with Brendan always felt a little strange to me. She had very little in common with him, and her desire to help someone with such a dark side feels more like something Phoebe would do, not Prue. Shannen’s performance is a big plus here, however. She made such an unrealistic romance seem believable, even if for a short while.
This episode presented an opportunity for some really strong villains. Again, weak guest casting proved to be the weak point, making the brothers both stupid and annoying. Still, it did provide some entertainment, and it gave Andy yet another reason to find out the truth about Prue and her sisters.
It was the acting that saved such a lacklustre script this time around. Average.
5.5/10
