In the first season finale, we see the first major loss to the show. It’s this huge loss that makes this one of the most painful episodes. We also see time being played around with here, resulting in great entertainment.
Synopsis: Tempus, the demon of time, assists Rodriguez in his quest to kill the Charmed Ones by reversing time each time he fails to kill all three sisters. Phoebe, realising something is wrong, gives them the chance to stop him, but at a huge cost.
As far as Charmed season finales go, this is one of the best ones. The first major death on any TV series is always a huge event, and Charmed did this one justice. Andy’s death was always one of the more upsetting because of what he died doing, protecting Prue. His ghost talking to Prue was done a little cheesily, but it made Prue’s sacrifice such a powerful one.
The time loops here are pretty fun. The writers realise this too, which is probably why we see it pop up quite often in future episodes. The show manages to capitalise on each of the sisters deaths in each separate rewind, with AMAZING performances from Shannen and Holly.
I’m a huge David Carradine fan, so his appearance here was a delight. I did feel that he was a little underused though. A lot more could have been done with him, but he never really got much of a chance.
‘Déjà Vu All Over Again’ was exciting, heartbreaking and great fun. A perfect end to the season.
9.5/10
