Charmed 2.13 'Animal Pragmatism'

A valentine’s centric episode was unavoidable, especially with the love triangle that was going on all through this season but the instalment proved to be just as stupid as you’d think it to be. It had its moments though, and it’s not all unforgivable.

Synopsis: Phoebe’s friends cast a spell turning animals into man for 24 hours, but when they decide to stay that way forever, Phoebe has to find a way to save her friends, and turn the men back into animals before they die.

The best part of this episode is seeing Prue deal with unemployment, one job she can’t excel at. It’s such a jump from her character even a few episodes ago. The Prue here is such a far cry from the irritating sister we met back in season 1. Phoebe returns to college here, making Prue the housebound sister. It was a nice change seeing the girls switch roles.

Piper was at her most annoying in ‘Animal Pragmatism’ treating both Dan and Leo like shit. I mean, how can she be annoyed with Dan for assuming she was cancelling on him yet again? Hadn’t she done the same thing about a MILLION times? Giving a card to her ex is a little strange too. As far as I’m concerned he had every right to be upset.

The animals were a little overacted at times, but the clever links between their traits as animals gave it some leverage, adding a little more fun to an otherwise drab episode.

6/10
