In ‘Astral Monkey’, the girls face their first major dilemma when their innocent is also their enemy. Despite the humour of some of this episode, it was still a serious instalment that worked pretty well.
Synopsis: Dr Williamson, who treated Piper for oroya fever in ‘Awakened’, accidentally injects himself with the sisters’ blood while testing it on monkeys. After he develops their powers, he begins to unravel and kills criminals to give their organs to sick patients.
Dr Williamson provided a pretty different villain. As well as having all three of the girls’ powers he was also an innocent in danger. That’s why the ending of this episode is as sad as it is. Even though they stopped him, it came at such a high cost. Piper’s distraught at failing to save him is something reminiscent of the old Piper that I loved back in season one.
I loved the monkeys in this episode. Thankfully, they didn’t spend far too much time focusing on the monkeys with their powers, that majority was based around Williamson. It still provided a few laughs and awws though. The last scene with them is particularly cute.
‘Astral ‘Monkey’ put an interesting spin on things.

It's a pity that Piper's distraught didn't include regret over her actions in "Awakened" inadvertently led to Dr. Williamson's death in the first place.
