Charmed 2.04 'The Devil's Music'

Leo and Piper have their first major blowout while Jenny fulfils her role as the way too annoying teenage girl. Despite the major whining that takes place, this was actually a pretty great episode.

Synopsis: Leo casts a spell to make band ‘Dishwalla’ play Piper’s club when he discovers that their manager made a pact with a demon.

Maslin was definitely the creepiest demon they faced. Charmed definitely lost its fear factor in later years, and here showed just how well that part of the series was when they tried. It’s definitely harder to be frightened by any of those ridiculously dressed men in season 7.

This is the episode when Piper’s season long whine-a-thon began and it’s the first time I found myself starting to seriously dislike her. I’m no fan of Dan, or Leo for that matter, but her treatment of both of them was pretty terrible. Here her anger is somewhat understandable. Thinking you’ve finally caught a big break only to find out it was just a ruse must be seriously annoying.

While Darryl becomes quite useless after a while, his appearance in earlier seasons was always great. Here he added to the drama, and it was the first taste we got of what a great ally he could be to the girls.

Jenny’s appearance here was actually pretty smart too, and a great way to get her involved in the week’s demonic plot. She was just as annoying as ever though.

8/10
