For this season’s time travelling experience, the girls are sent back to 1670, where they find out the true nature of Halloween. They also come meet their favourite ancestor for the second time. It’s not as mind blowing as our previous trips in time, but its close.
Synopsis: On Halloween, the girls are sent back to 1670 in order to stop a baby being born in the way of dark magic. Cole is sent back to, but to help the other side.
The Charmed Ones, being modern takes on witches, were always going to have to meet past witches at some point. The era was pretty much as standard as it gets for something like this. The witches are all pretty drab, none of them as fun as our favourites. What I did enjoy is how similar they are just as much as they are different. Phoebe ‘embracing the clique’ is such a slap in the fact to people laughing at the ridiculousness of its premise. It knows it’s ridiculous, and it OWNS it.
Bringing Melinda Warren back into the story was a really nice touch, and a great way to call back to someone who has become a little forgotten after her name was mentioned quite a few times during the first season.
Cole being brought back with them gave this episode a lot more intrigue. Phoebe seeing his name in the water was a pretty pivotal moment for both of them. I still believe Cole to be Phoebe’s true love, even if things didn’t work out in the end.
Despite some silly moments, ‘All Halliwell’s Eve’ proves Charmed’s trips in time almost always result in a lot of fun.
8/10
