This episode sees the culmination of the storyline that featured in the first 7 episodes of the series, and it’s given just the right amount of power that it should have been acting as a dramatic and decent ending to the first part of the season.
Synopsis: After their confrontation with Belthazor in the previous episode, Prue and Piper attempt to vanquish him, but when they have trouble locating him they must team up with a demon. Phoebe searches for Cole not knowing he is really Belthazor and is on the run after killing the Triad.
‘Sleuthing With The Enemy’ features the big revelation that we’ve been waiting quite a while for. They definitely gave this story the perfect amount of time, and it thankfully was never drawn out. There was the perfect amount of time for Cole’s betrayal to hurt just as there’s the perfect amount of time for Phoebe to fall for Cole, just as viewers fall for them as a couple.
I always loved when Phoebe saves Cole here. Her faith in him is so pure that she doesn’t even need to ask him if he’ll try to kill them again. Faking Cole’s death is also one of the sisters’ first times betraying the trust of the other two, and is probably one of the biggest secrets they’ve ever kept.
One thing that makes this episode so fantastic is Prue and Piper working with the bounty hunter, Krell. They’re interaction with him was absolutely hilarious (Head freezing for example). Shannen and Holly’s brilliant chemistry is evident here, especially seeing as how they’re best friends in real life.
This episode serves as the perfect ending to the first major serial plot of the season, and is one of the most emotional episodes for that matter.
9/10
